Case Studies - Kids French

The Sams Family
St Johns Wood

James & Claire are American children, aged 12 and 8, who previously attended French School in San Francisco. For three years they have taken three hours of tuition each week. The lessons were structured to follow the French School Curriculum mixed with games and activities to help maintain and enhance their fluency. Over the three years both Dominique and Laure (pictured) taught the children and were delighted by the following feedback...

"Dominique. I'm sure you and Laure will be pleased to know that the teacher at the school raved about how well the kids had been taught. She brought the head of the language department in to meet Claire, and they agreed that Claire would be more than ready for the highest level of French that is taught in the school, i.e., the Advanced Placement level, which allows students to skip the first year course at university. Thank you so much for all that you and Dominique have done for the kids over the past three years."

Mrs Lisa Sams, St Johns Wood

Concentrating on Conversation
The Prest Children, aged 5 to 11, take a group lesson once a week with Maëlle. The aim is to build their confidence in speaking French in order to help all their school work and family visits to France.

"I can say that the lesson went very well with the children and they enjoyed it. We look forward to continuing with Maelle." - Mrs Prest

Activity Club
The Rochester Group. Seven children aged 3. The children all are friends from the same nursery. All the families have a French 'link' of some sort - french relatives, home in France etc. The group's aim as well as improving the children's exposure to French, is to allow the friends to stay together in a shared activity. The 'club' runs once a week at one of the parents home. Prepared to be maximum fun and very exciting for the children - the emphasis is on games, activities, cooking and arts & craft in French.

"We're very happy with how things are going. She is a great teacher, and the kids are definitely beginning to pick up some French. We're all keen to continue in the autumn term." - Julia Rochester.

Assisting with School work.
Grace aged 11 years. Tutor Sarah Habass (pictured). Grace has had French Lessons at school but the parents believed the lessons to be of limited use due to the size of the class. She books private lessons now for Grace to her help progress faster in French. She has a knowledge of some of the basics but would like to achieve a lot more in both speaking and writing. The lessons should help assist her school work by building her confidence and her knowledge in French.

"Grace is really enjoying the tutor and her lessons ... The tutor is really positive and energetic and we like her a lot!"
Mother of Grace

Helping Bilingual Children
The Rouas Group. Three bilingual children. Each child has one French parent and one English Parent. Living in London now they go to English school, have English friends and subsequently are starting to drop their French. After speaking to the client and establishing their needs it was suggested that we follow the French curriculum for children of this age in our lessons. We also use our own ‘French Manuals’ for each child to help the French parent work with their children, reinforcing the learning between lessons. Extra activities are also used in the lesson to keep the interest of the children and ensure they enjoy rediscovering their French side.

"Fantastic - thank you very much! Gigi loves the class" - Justine Tate (mother of Gigi)

" it has been overall a very good experience, and although I was never here to witness it, it seemed that the kids were really enjoying each session and learnt a lot! Also, it was all done very professionally and I really appreciated receiving reports on the kids’ progress. I will certainly recommend ‘Dominiques’ to anyone I know! " -
Laurence Rouas
